Create one machine in the world

Kawata's mechanical design includes the design of standard machines listed in the product catalog and special machines equipped with specifications that meet the customer's requirements. I am in charge. We create and modify machines that are incorporated into the entire production line or part of the line to create one-of-a-kind machines that realize what our customers want. As a specific work content, we repeatedly discuss specifications with customers, select and design machines, and use CAD to create drawings. When designing, I consult with the person in charge of the control section, who is in charge of the program part, about how I want the machine to move. When the machine is completed and delivered to the customer's factory, it is a series of flow up to the place where the final adjustment of the machine is done on site.
The best part of my job is seeing how the blueprints I made actually turn into three-dimensional objects and move according to the calculations. When the machine works as expected, I feel like I did it! Conversely, when things don't go as planned, I find it difficult. There is always a reason why it doesn't go well, so we investigate the cause and provide feedback so that it can be used for the next design.

Talk directly to customers and see the site.
Valuing my opinion as a designer

The image of designing was desk work, but at Kawata, designers can also explain to customers and go to the site. As a professional who understands the specifications best, I talk to the customer, and I am very grateful to hear directly from the customer.
Being able to go to the site is also a great reward. It makes me happy to see the customers happy after delivering the machine safely. Also, seeing the products being made using the machines I designed gives me motivation to work. And when I see a product that I saw the manufacturing process on the street, I feel like I want to brag that I was involved.
Since I am inexperienced, I ask my superiors and other people around me to look at the drawings and give me their opinions. What I keep in mind when consulting is to have my own opinion and what I want to do. My superiors and seniors understand my intentions and give me accurate advice based on my experience and things I didn't realize, so I learn a lot. I want to grow so that I can catch up with my superiors and seniors.

My "solution" episode

In the past, there was a problem with a machine that Kawata had delivered to a customer, where raw materials were not being Conveying properly. I went to the site with my boss and people from other departments and actually tried various methods. However, none of the methods worked, so I decided to go back to the company and think about a different method. At that time, I had an idea of using parts from a certain machine and proposed it to my boss. My boss adopted my idea and used the parts to figure out how the machine would work, and the problem was solved and we were able to successfully Conveying. I was happy that I was able to do something that was impossible based on my proposal.

The reason why I chose Kawata

I have loved making things since I was little. When I was a student, I was studying different fields, but I wanted to work in manufacturing, and I wanted to become a designer, so I started looking for a job. Among them, I was attracted to Kawata, which can be involved in the manufacture of familiar plastic products. In the recruitment process of other companies, it was difficult for some companies to apply for technical positions unless they were in the engineering department, but Kawata accepted me even if I had no experience.
However, when I first joined the company, I was very worried about whether I would really be able to make it since I did not have an engineering background and could not use CAD. However, thanks to the thorough follow-up such as training and OJT, I am now able to work without anxiety. Kawata gives opportunities to people who want to challenge even if they have no experience. I am grateful for the opportunity that I have received, and I want to do my best every day so that I can become a full-fledged person beyond my expectations.

What I want to challenge from now on

I started design work with no experience, and with the help of my superiors and senior colleagues, I have had a meaningful experience. I'm still inexperienced, and sometimes I get flustered when customers ask me questions. Seniors are answering with a whack so that customers do not feel uneasy. I also want to gain more experience and gain more power so that customers can be satisfied with peace of mind. What I feel while working is the amazingness of Kawata's machines. When I go to the site, there are machines that have been in operation since before I was born, and I can feel the high level of quality and technology. Inheriting Kawata's unbroken quality, I would like to take on the challenge of designing new machines in the future, and design products that will satisfy our customers.
